Driving a racing car in competition is more than just the art of driving a racing car in competition. Sounds silly doesn’t it? But in reality, as in the virtual word, the physical aspect of handling your machine around the circuit faster than any other driver is only part of the challenge. As the quality of today’s racing simulators draws increasingly close to the real life in which they attempt to mimic, virtual drivers have to contend with such real world variables as track progression, rubbering in racing lines (and the marbles that often follow hand-in-hand), an ever changing balance within the car, tyre wear, fuel usage, understeer, oversteer, weather and about a million other things that have to be filtered into the equation.
