The Cirrus SR22 is an up to five-seat, composite aircraft, been build since the year 2001 at Cirrus Aircraft in the state of Minnesota, United States. The SR22 series has been the world’s best-selling general aviation aircraft every year since 2003, accounting for over 30% of the entire piston aircraft market. Well over 6,000 units delivered since 2001, it is the most-produced single-engine aircraft of the 21st century. The Cirrus SR22 is a more powerful version of the earlier SR20 and it is equipped with a whole-plane emergency recovery system which has given it name “the plane with the parachute”.
The Cirrus SR series remains the only aircraft in its class to include side-stick flight controls. It is powered by a nose-mounted 310 horsepower (231 kW) Continental IO-550-N piston engine. At first, SR22 was 4-seat, but in 2013 they increased its gross weight to a certificate total of 5-seats. Normal cruise speed is 183 knots (339 km/h) at a maximum service ceiling of 17,500 feet (5,300 meters). The maximum take-off weight is 1,633 kg (3,600 lb) with maximum flight range being 1,049 nautical miles (1,943 km) if flying full tanks of fuel 348 liters (92 US gallons).
The Cirrus SR22 is flyable in the next generation of Microsoft Flight Simulator Premium Deluxe Edition.
