Skyline Simulations has released an updated version 1.1 of their Gibraltar Airport, ICAO: LXGB, for X-Plane 11. Also known as North Front Airport, it’s the civilian airport that serves the British overseas territory of Gibraltar. The airport handles yearly over 500,000 passengers and 300,000 kg of cargo on almost 5,000 total flights. Winston Churchill Avenue is the main road heading towards the land border with Spain intersecting the airport runway, and consequently has to be closed every time a plane lands or departs.
The Most Extreme History Channel ranked the airport the fifth most extreme airport in the world. Strong crosswinds around the rock making the landings in winter uncomfortable. The main runway 09-27 serves top destinations including London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Bristol, Tangier, London Luton, and Edinburg.
